Default New Guy Sez Hello

My name is Dennis, and I've been playing since the sixties. Yes, the Beatles, Ed Sullivan, I'm one of those who marched down to the music store that week and started taking lessons.
About a year later, I heard Wes Montgomery, and it's been me and jazz ever since.
The attached picture of my guitars was taken by my cousin, Cliff. I only mentioned his name here because I forgot to include it when I sent the photo to Vintage Guitar Magazine, who featured it last year.
Thanks for having me, and I am looking forward to spending time here.
Dennis

Thanks for the reply and the welcome! I also found a Harmony Patrician that I like to play too. I am just having a tough time getting used to that Les Paul. I'm so used to an archtop, when I play the LP, it seems I'm all arms and elbows. But as much as I like that '80's L-4, cutaway and electric, I really like that '30's L-7 with those inlays!! Thanks again Dennis

Yes, I wore out at least two albums of Bumpin'....I worked with a guy who really turned me on to the jazz classics....He wasn't as crazy about guitar players as we are, but even he like Wes Montgomery and the Wynton Kelly Trio Smokin at the Half Note....
There was a story floating around - not sure about the accuracy - about how George Benson once went to watch Grant Green at a gig and just happened to notice Wes in the audience too !!

....Yes, and the early Prestige recordings of Pat Martino esp. " Desperado "..and then the Bill Evans & Jim Hall.....Kind of Blue....the Johnny Smith Moonlight in Vermont...and The Stan Getz Charlie Byrd Jazz Samba....playing along with that record taught me a lot about chords...the overall playing was just ok, but was really good in spots - -anyway it intruduced the world to that music -or at least my part of it, and yes I also wore out one of those !...... and always vinyl !!
