| | I want to re introduce myself Hi everyone, i left this forum for a while due to some comments that hurt me deeply. However i have really missed the interaction with the very knowledgeable and kind people of which there are many.I know i need to develop thicker skin but sadly i was just made this way and have allways been supersensative to hurtfull comments. So could i please ask you all to be gentle with me.My name is andy and i am forty six,i have been playing music since i was eight years old.I started to study jazz guitar seriously about five years ago after years of playing in blues cover bands. After stopping work six years ago due to a degenerative disease in my spine i decided to turn my new found time to studying music on a serious level.I am currently working through my music theory exams via home study in association with the London college of music, i take my grade four in June(wish me luck).Studying music theory has really made me realise how ignorant i was to music for many years and i would recomend it to anyone,my playing has moved on more in the few years of studying theory than it did over the previous thirty or so years of pentatonic noodling.I look forward to corresponding with the kind and giving people on here so bye for now and peace to you all. |

I am truly relieved to find you're okay and generous enough to forgive past mistakes; for my part, and if I was in any way responable for hurting, I humbly and publicly beg your pardon, and assure that I have never had any unkind intentions, either to yourself, or indeed any other member.
We missed your input, too, so we can all rejoice in your return.
Best wishes (for the exams, and all other endevours...).
( It really is amazing; we don't know each other, but I have difficulty expressing the emotion in realising that you're back; I was deeply affected by your departure. Thanks for your post, I feel like a weight has been lifted...)

| | Hi Andy,
I'm new to the forum, but not forums in general (in fact, I mod a forum on a different site). Unfortunately, there will always be those who don't understand the concept of civility, sharing and cooperation. I just consider them potholes on the Information Superhighway, and try to avoid them whenever I can.
I look forward to participating in this forum, growing my knowledge and sharing my experiences. I hope you continue to stay with us.
Good luck on your exams! |

| | Hey ginge, never knew you left! I am usually drifting in and out (busy life and not drink related...). Good you're back. Any issues with anyone and the boys will sort 'em out (meaning derek and Mr B)!
Good luck with your studying and all

| | (Hornbeek, you are a funny man!)
Andy, I've only been on this forum for a month or so, and it's the first forum I've every participated in.
I've been watching the wars and the ugliness, and have resolved never to go that way and always to try and be as helpful and positive as I can be.
I'm actually blown away by what a great place this is. So many viewpoints from so many types of guitarists! And there are some really great players.
There's a lot to learn here, and like all things in life, I guess you have to take the wheat with the chaff. |

| | Hi gingerjazz,
You're not the only person to receive unfounded abuse on this forum. I have walked away from several forums in the past due to stupid arguments, although I understand that moderating a forum can be quite a demanding task. Individuals on this forum who are only inclined to put others down do so to conceal the fact that they are clearly out of their depth. So we can laugh about it and not feel so bad.

| | Welcome back. I just joined yesterday.
I got away from forums because of an unpleasant [and unfortunate] series of words on another forum. A couple of my friends were banned just because they tried to settle the whole thing down. The result was a banning of all who had posted anything. Turned out to be a huge misunderstanding, but left some sour tastes.
I don't get that is as likely to happen here. I did a lot of thread reading before posting. So far so good & I've already gotten some good advice on strings & guitar holding position.
I trust this will be a good journey for us both.

Wife & I went on the 17 Day Diet on 1/1/11 & lost the 30# I needed to lose in 3 months. The book introduced me to some new, VERY tasty, healthy recipes [such as black bean chili]. So a lot of the cooking has been cooking some of the same things in a more healthy way. It works & I feel great - I've maintained my 195# for over a month. Gotta get new pants.
Between a good recipe for a song or for a dish, I'd still rather fondle a good ole fretboard any day.
