| | I've got the Blues hi, I'm a blues guitarist have been using a dreadnought since forever and I've come here for some recommendations. I'm getting a jazz box, which do you think I should buy? Delta blues players like a punchy sound, would you recommend and Eastman, a Loar or should I stick to Gibsons? What would YOU get?
I'd be very interested in you jazzmen's opinions |

I'd be very interested in you jazzmen's opinions | what would I do? i would do what Wes did.
buy the best guitar I could afford (or not afford)
i would get a Johnny Smith spec guitar (17" lower bout, 3" body depth, 25" scale length) from one of the better luthiers. Benedetto and Buscarino are dependable. |

| | Thanks Fumblefingers, you are right, I just checked out an Artisan by Buscarino and it's a thing of beauty - quite a price tag! I'll have to run that one by the wife, up to $1500 she wouldn't notice but 6.5k! I suppose if you want thje best you must be prepared to sacrifice.
Cheers! |

| | Are you going acoustic or electric? What's wrong with the dread for jazz? |

| | Welcome.
Follow the threads Clev, there are many who have the same question as you, and although the discussions can spin off in many directions, they are often educational.
For me the best bang for the buck is an old Epiphone. Once you hear what these old carved top guitars have to offer, that dreadnought might be history. Check out archtop.com or other established sites.
On the other hand, if you can find the dough, an old Gibson L-5 or L-7 will be a guitar to take you from this lifetime to the next.
But of course, in addition to getting a great guitar, don't forget to practice! |

| | Get a Telecaster. You can play jazz on it AND get your Albert Collins on!
