Default Hello!

I have been playing guitar for awhile now, and have decided to start learning jazz. I have realized over the course of my playing that if you can play jazz, you can play anything. I have just been putting it off for some time. I finally decided after I bought Guitar Pro 6 the other day and saw the great results I was getting at learning songs, that I would start taking jazz a bit more seriously.

Hello Brandon and welcome to the site. Until recently there wasn't a lot of jazz available in GP format but there are more players using now I think.

I can see why people would use it. It has been a very useful tool for me since I purchased it a few days ago.

I've got GP6. I had GP5 which I prefer, the screen is much less cluttered. The main reason why jazz players don't use it, I think, is because they see it as just a TAB programme. Since most jazz players - horns, piano, drums - don't use TAB, it doesn't seem as attractive to jazz players.

I think it would be more popular if more people realised that you can also write Standard Notation on it and even a piece which was written in TAB can be printed out in standard.

My notation is lacking, as is my understanding of theory; but I bought the guitar grimoires and have been using them to deepen my understanding of the language. It is helping immensely, but I figure it will be a year or two longer before I have learned most, if not all of it. Gotta start somewhere!
