Newbie! Hi from Belgium

Hi there,

I'm Tom from Belgium. I've been playing the guitar for about 4 years now. I never really payed a lot of attention to theory. My musical taste used to be punk oriented, that probably had something to do with it.

Right now I listen to right about anything. I've played in a hardcore band, I listen to jazz in the car and during breakfast and spend about 2 nights a week practising as DJ (Minimal Techno).I also played in the local brassband for about 5 years(long time ago though), so i used to be able to read sheet music rather well.

As I'm 21 years old and still studying(applied linguistics), I've got some free time on my hands. I'm using this spare time to learn some theory, scales, arps, chords,... Thought I'd try to teach myself as much as i can while it still all comes easily(My parents are prime examples of how a monotonous desk job wears own the memory =/)I feel Dirk's site has already helped me a lot so far, but i'm still an utter newbie.

Looking forward to spend some time on the forums and of course, on the instrument...

Tom
