Default Hello. I Like Guitars.

I don't play jazz, but I do play jazz guitars, whatever that means.
Here are my current toys...

A Godin 5th Avenue modified with a floating mini.

My Epi Alleykat, loaded with Duncans. Seth Lover bridge, SM-3 neck.

I write songs and play a very basic hack three chord blues/country/Americana type thing. Just me and my guitars. No band.

Love to talk shop and whatnot.

Jazz is music, not gear!

Welcome aboard, EG. Good to see you around here!

Nice looking gits ya got there. Glad to hear that you (eventually) hung on to the Kat.

Thanks Chris. You're right, and that's mostly why I merely lurked around here for the longest time. I don't play jazz. (Maybe one day.)
My taste in gear runs along the same lines as a lot of jazz players and the more rock/blues oriented sites don't help me that much when looking for information.
Hope the gang here doesn't mind an interloper such as myself hanging about.

The Kat actually got traded off at one point but I bought it back pretty quickly. Didn't realize how much I'd miss it. For a cheap guitar, it's a nice player and it sounds great. The neck mini gives it a nice sweet voice.

Aside from a few pieces, I'm largely finished shopping. I'm presently saving for a nice amp and some more recording gear, but now I'm trying to focus more on actually playing the thing.
The whole chord melody business has me quite intrigued.

Chord-melody is a blast. Now that you're a member, you have to learn to play one jazz tune.

Given that I've written and learned to play a total of four songs in two years now, I might have that ready in 2019 or so.

Welcome to our group. Though most of us are interested in and play jazz, the theory, gear and technical discussions can benefit any player.

I do like jazz....just never tried playing it. I only pickup a guitar to support a writing habit I have. I've been focusing all my efforts in writing music for my own tunes. It does seem that the jazz players are a little more studious than a lot of the blues and rock guys. I like that. You can get more than "Well I heard..."

Time is key. Repetition is key.
Thank you and, yes, I have already picked up some good stuff.
