This is my first post here. I've been a lurker for sometime now reading all the various threads and posts. I've recently decided to dive into Jazz, and I'm hoping you could help me on my journey.
A little background info, I've been playing for almost 5 years. I'm self-taught, meaning I haven't taken any lessons, just learned what I could from books and online guitar sites. I am a level 3 member at TrueFire as well as a moderator, so I've been really learning a lot lately.
Basically, I can improvise over the blues, that is the music I'm most comfortable with, right now. I'd say that I think I have a late beginner's to early intermediate player's head knowledge in regards to jazz. I have a bunch of books, some of which are jazz orientated.
Ear training wise, I know all my intervals, some of the descending ones give me trouble, but for the most part I got them down.
Well, that's enough about me, I'm going to start another thread where I need some guidance.
Welcome to the group. Sounds like you are on your way. It is hard to overstate the value of a good teacher though. Plenty of guys are certainly self taught, lifting lines off of recordings. Where are you located?
