Introducing myself. Hello to all.
I just joined the Jazz forum and thought I'd say hi. I play guitar, more finger picking and a little bluegrass. I can read music and have taught music reading with no style in mind. I would tell my students once they learn to read they can go off and learn any style.
I have a Big Baby Taylor, a Jay Turser copy of a hollow body Cheretan guitar and a Gretsch-Chet Atkins Country Gentleman(1968). Lately life and work has gotten in the way of my playing at all but I have to make time. I'm 52yrs old so I'd better get cracken.
Some of the songs I play are "Vincent"(John Knowles), "Deep River Blues"(Doc Watson), Nelly Blye(Chet Atkins), "Black Bird"(The Beetles), "Grits and Biscuits"(John Knowles), "Scarborough Affair"(Paul Simon), "Sittin on top of the World"(Doc Watson), "Spanish Flang Dang"(Elizabeth Cotton), Freight Train(Generic), "Larry The Logger"(Doobie Brothers), "Bo Jangles"(Chet Atkins), and a few more I can't remember.
I haven't had a chance to play with other people so Jamming is as clumsy as it gets.
Several peope say that I sound just like Neil Diamond. (a lot of his tunes), Natt King Cole(Mona Lisa)
I'm looking for a Aria AS-100S silent guitar for tavelling.
Thanks for listening
Dean
