Newbie! Why hello there...

Hello all! My name is Jeremy M. from West Chester, OH in the United States. I joined this forum a while back, but I never posted anything until now. I've been playing for about three years now, and I started out with rock and blues stuff like Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters and pop like the Beatles but that is too easy. When I was first exposed to Al Di Meola (not true jazz, but more jazz-rock fusion) it blew my mind away. Since then I've become a fan of gypsy jazz such as Django and Bireli, traditional jazz like some of Di Meola's and Chick Corea's, more jazz or rock oriented fusion like Jeff Beck, Steve Lukather, Pat Metheny, and many other genres of music. I just love jazz because of those really cool and weird chords and progressions that are just way over the head of rock and stuff, though rock n roll still holds a place in my heart. It's also cool too because I remember when I first heard this kind of music, when people asked me what I liked three years back, jazz-rock fusion was definitely not the response people expected from a seventh-grader, and that still holds true today
My guitar style is very heavy on Al Di Meola-esque techniques like muted picking and just the way it sounds, so I'm trying to get other influences in my playing. I'm in a band, but all they like is rock, so that's kind of a bummer, but I still love that rush when you play on stage. I play guitar everyday, and have gotten very serious about it in the last two years. I quit all my sports and stopped playing video games and watching the amount of TV I used to to play guitar, and I would like to go to a good music college!
