Hi Guys - my first time on this net - been playing guitar since 57 - gone thru all the rock, plectrum jazz, classical stuff and now back on to finger style jazz - having a ball thankyou.Tried all kinds of guitar and am now using Ibanez Artcore AS103 (love it!), and my latest aquisition is the amazing Yamaha silent nylon machine (very handy for solo gigs with the mixer for mp3s etc). Besides chord melody stuff, I like doing what Chris Standring does and will always do Bach.
Nice to meet you all.

Sweet at last...!

WOW!

I'm also fairly new to this site, I must admit! It's great to come across another South African though! Who's ALSO based in Durban!!!

Which particular chord melodies appeal to you? Do you construct your own?

I'm also looking for a gooood jazz guitar teacher in Durban, if you have any ideas?

tuneful regards,
jazzjunky

Hi Jazzjunkie - typed a long reply just now but went missing when I posted it - call me on 0824571010 and I will tell you about some play-along books and cds that I have been using - one by Chris Standring - cd and mp3s with notation, Tab, midis and pdfs. The other set by Barry Coates, old standards - Just Classic Jazz Vol 1-3.

PS - Go to ChrisStandring.com for more info on Love and Paragraphs cd. And I do teach, when I get the time - Day job fixing computers and laser newspaper printing equipment.
