Default Better late than never...

Hi all,

I've been reading you for a while and started participating on some threads.

I just realized that I didn't introduce myself so here I am

I'm 46, played guitar in my teenage life, quit when the kids were born in the beginning of my 20's and restarted playing guitar about 4 years ago. I never played in a band, always been a basement player. I always liked playing the blues and classic rock (Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Who, etc...).

Two years ago, I started taking guitar lessons and it changed my views on music. I am more open minded and I can say that I now listen to almost any kind of music. My teacher slowly introduced me to jazz music and to some famous jazz guitarist (Wes, Joe Pass, Ed Bickert, etc...). I must say that my preference goes to Barney Kessel.

Gearwise, well, being a lefthander it's more difficult to find good guitars... So I have a stock Godin Exit-22, perfect for the blues... I bought a Telecaster (MiM) last year and changed pickups (see my sig for a full report). I also installed .11 chrome flatwound and combined with my Roland Cube-60 I can achieve an interesting tone (to my ear at least).

I discovered lately that I have an interest in chord melody / solo guitarstyle so the later threads by Matt are just perfect for me

I don't want to abuse so this is it

Sorry for my english, my native language is french...

Welcome Jean. I also am 46, and am into chord melody. I started studying jazz about 5-6 years ago. It took me a while, but I worked up enough tunes to play restaurant gigs.

I also have done a coffee shop, old folks home, and lately have done some playing for a buddy of mine who is a real estate agent on some open house showings with higher end houses. That has been a fun experience.
