Default Howdy from Tokyo

I've been lurking here for a while and checking out all the chit chat. Right now I'm sitting in the hospital waiting to have surgery on my knee, so it seemed like a good time for an introduction.

I've only been playing for 46 years, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I play mostly blues, jump blues, swing blues, west coast blues, and a little faux jazz. I've been enjoying all the conversations here, and have been tempted to jump in once in a while, but I figured I should introduce myself first. So, here I am! Expect me to toss in my 2-yen worth once in a while.

Gear wise, I have too much, but mainly I'm playing either an early 70's 175 or a '54 Harmony H62. I have other guitars (35 or so at last count), but I have really grown to love the fat body guitars over the last few years. Although I have a lot of amps (mostly Dumble clones that I built myself), in Japan we often end up using whatever is in the club because you can't really carry an amp around on the train. You get used to putting up with what you get. It's not about the gear anyway, it's about making music and having fun.

So that's me. I'm looking forward to spending more time here and getting to know you all (although I recognize some folks from other forums already). Cheers, and thanks for having me.

Bill

Yes, I go there sometimes, but they have too many guitars that I want so it's a dangerous place!

welcome, bill!

i'll bet you're having a good time playing music in japan! 'way back in the 1980s i had the pleasure of sitting in several nights with brazilian and japanese musicians at saçi pererê (in shinjuku) while on vacation.
