Yeah, I believe fianaces put the strain on that Djangofest. I was buddies with Tommy Davy for a bit, whos parents helped organize the fest. I got to jam with Angelo and Andreas Oberg when they were around at Brussels Bistro for the after show jams. Would be great if they could organize one nearly as good as there ones in SF or NW, but hopefully in thhe future!
I have been playing around SoCal for a while now. Just played Catalina Bar and Grill last Tuesday, which was great! Usually my quintet plays where ever we can get a gig. Locally we've played Bachus Secret Cellar, La Cave, Cota de Casa Club, Memories, Houge Barmichaels, House of Blues, and some other random clubs, bars, cafe's, coffee shops and parties. We will be at The Olde Ship in September. I play solo jazz guitar a few times a week at the Curtain Call in Tustin as well.
One of my myspace friends is a group called Riff Raff, who I have been playing with for about 5-6 years. More Gypsy Jazz influenced and great older cats. They have an open gypsy jazz jam the 1st and 3rd Wed of every month and a show the 2nd Sat at the Gypsy Den in Santa Ana that I am usually performing at.
I will also probably be at the Laguna Beach artwalk on the first Thursday of August playing with vocalist/cellist Julia Woods.
Great to hear back from you and keep in touch! Let me also know of any gigs you have as well. My email is in my myspace bio if you want email me directly! Take Care
