Newbie! Hello!

Hi all,

Yet another newbie to the forum. I'm quite new to the guitar. Started off by wanting learn some rhythm guitar for some pop songs, but that left me feeling a little empty. Then one day I discovered Joe Pass' Virtuoso album and I was immediately inspired!

I'm currently self teaching the fundamentals using the Berklee's A Modern Method for Guitar Vol 1 as time permits. I've tried a few other method books but this one by far feels best structured and also fun to keep going. Having a full time job and being a still relatively new parent doesn't leave much time for practice. At best, I'm doing about 30min to 45min a day everyday.

I hope to one day inspire my son to take up music so that he too can enjoy the gift of music.

Welcome to the group. I certainly remember trying to get in practice time when my kids were young. Quite a challenge.

Thanks derek. From what I've read on this forum, it's about frequency of practice. Even on days when I don't have the time, I make it a point to pick up the guitar and practice what scales I know and read music.
